What's happening at DD Music Geek?

The end of the year is fast approaching, and here at DD Music Geek we are looking at what we have accomplished in the past 3 years since we started trading and what we are going to change in the coming months.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....

ok, so 3 years ago... and it was Stowmarket!

DD Music Geek started in October 2019 from humble beginnings. I'd wanted to start up my own music shop for a number of years and finally took the leap, armed with my, admittedly small, savings and put it all into stock, selling it at local markets and on eBay and Discogs.

Shortly after, I was offered a retail unit at Stonham Barns, near Stowmarket. This was short lived, as we all know Covid came along in 2020 and everything changed for the world.

This led me to moving premises to my current location in Oulton Broad once we were all able to move around again and from there the business has changed quite a bit!

We now hold large stock, with our products ranging from records, CDs and cassettes to comics, figures and licensed gifts such as mugs, posters and badges.

We also have, from time to time, stocked various board and card games, figures such as Funko and movies on DVD and bluray.

So, what's next?

Now we are looking to the next steps we want to take, and I'm hoping it's going to be as exciting for you all as it is for me!

Vinyl

Firstly, we have listened to our customers and reintroducing singles / 45s! Due to space, we had removed them a few months back from the shop, following little interest in them. Since then, we have been inundated with requests for their return, so we are working to get those back and better than ever for mid-December 2022.

Staying with vinyl, we are going to be stocking more new titles and reissued classics, covering a larger range of artists and genres.

Gaming

Gaming is being increasingly popular at DD Music Geek, with lots of enquiries about various gaming products and also gaming clubs.

We have been working with GMD Online, playtesting their upcoming Pegasus Core RPG Engine, which is due for release early 2023 and which we will be stocking alongside their current Onslaught Card Game. They run successful Kickstarter campaigns and have created some fantastic prices at truly amazing prices, with the emphasis on opening up tabletop gaming to everyone.

We are also now taking the opportunity to get some local game events happening, in conjunction with GMD Online, to get people together playing their favourite games and giving them the chance to try new ones too in a welcoming and friendly environment. This has been a goal of mine for a while now, but the time was never right to do so, but now it is coming over the horizon finally and we should be making announcements soon!

We will be seriously increasing our stock of gaming products tailored to your request!

Comics & Manga

Since introducing comics towards the end of 2021, we have become known for our range of hundreds of single-issue titles along with our ordering and subscription services we offer in store.

Moving forward, we want to increase the selection of manga and graphic novels to compliment the range we currently offer. This will be ongoing and is starting already!

The fun stuff!!

Ok, so, firstly, thanks for reading through all that! I hope you can see that we are working to make DD Music Geek something special and things are happening behind the scenes!
